Do You Need a Petticoat?
You likely need one if:
- Your dress is A-line, ball gown, princess, or mermaid
- The skirt looks flat or clings to your legs
- The hem drags or catches under your feet as you walk
- Your skirt is tulle, organza, or chiffon
You can skip it if your dress is a sheath, column, or slip style, or already has built-in crinoline.

Start with your neckline. Statement necklaces suit strapless and sweetheart styles, drop pendants flatter V-necks, and high necks or halters look best with standout earrings and a bare neckline. For color, silver and crystal tones pair well with white, ivory, and cool shades, while gold tones complement champagne, blush, and warm colors.
Put your jewelry on last, after perfume, hairspray, and lotion, to protect its shine. Avoid water, and gently wipe each piece with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Store your set in its original packaging or a dry pouch, with pieces kept apart, so it stays beautiful long after your big day.
